It is with great sadness that we must announce that our very good friend, Jim Peachy passed away yesterday. Jim has been a yacht broker in the Clear Lake area for many years, most recently as the Sales Manager for Consolidated Marine. He was, to quote another friend of his, a "Walking Power Boat Guide" who was much loved and respected by his customers, colleagues and friends. Our prayers and deepest sympathy go out to Jim's family.
Like all of us, the cost of doing business for the Kemah VFD has risen significantly over the last few years and they are forced for the first time since 2003 to request a modest monthly increase in the fee that is paid by businesses and residents so that they can continue to provide our local area with the outstanding service and support we have experienced from this all volunteer department. Please join JM YACHTS in the November 2011 election and Vote "YES" for the referendum that will allow the increase and give the Kemah VFD the funds that are needed so they can keep on operating expediently and efficiently to keep our boats, businesses and homes safe.
We will also be cheering for our good friend, Terry Hollar, and his crew who will be sailing on his Hunter 34, Fun Hunter. Terry is a veteran Harvest Moon participant and always manages to get to the finish line, regardless of weather conditions.
Unfortunately, we must announce that on March 5, 2011, Dave Hamilton, our broker in Port Aransas, Texas, decided to move on to bluer waters. We first met Dave almost 5 years ago when we co-brokered with another good friend of ours to help him buy the boat that he and his wife Laura now call home. It wasn't too long after they got settled at Island Moorings marina that we asked Dave if he would be interested in selling boats, he said "yes" and since that time, Dave has been more than just a good broker for JM YACHTS, he has been our friend. We will definitely miss him and wish him the best of luck wherever those blue waters take him.
